Little Girls Need Your Support! @tinderboxfest
Once upon a time, Music Crush Girl was a wee little kidling who didn’t dream of being a writer or a musician (I did, apparently, according to these photos, aspire to being a mini-hipster).
If I would have had the benefit of Girls Write Now or Willie Mae Rock Camp for Girls, I might have written that novel by now or started guitar lessons before the age of 177. That’s why the Tinderbox Music Festival is so important. I’m on the music submissions committee for this event (Nov. 11 at Webster Hall!) which will host three stages of female musicians and bands. Proceeds from the event go to the aforementioned awesome organizations.
A fundraiser for the event is happening on Thursday, Sept. 13. It would really mean a lot to me (and to my former little girl self) if you could attend with me. Tickets are just $50 - cheaper than a typical night out in NYC, and include food, drinks and time with Music Crush Girl herself (there’s no value you can place on that, darlin’).
If you can’t make it, you can always just pretend like you went out and drop the 50 bucks anyway.
