It’s a lovely thing to be surprised and delighted and musically fulfilled, which is what I was on Tuesday. I hoofed it out to Glasslands in BKNY to see the melodic Mon Khmer, whom I’ve been crushing on for months. Their album Passwords is pure bliss. While there I happened to catch Yost and Home Video as well. Such an amazing line-up. All were super-fine.
Yost vacillated between super funky to dreamy to psychedelic. Extra yum. An exclusive interview with musiccrushgirl is in the works. Shit howdy.
Home Video impressed with their solid, pulsing rhythms and David Gross’ ethereal vocals. A little suggestive of Radiohead with more of an electronic humm behind it. Sexy music. Seriously. Find someone right now and get down to it with Home Video’s Automatic Process as your super-hot soundtrack. ”I Can Make You Feel It” will really make you feel it. Down there. Ahem.
Anyway, I also finally got to see Mon Khmer IRL. The set wasn’t quite as tight as I hoped, but I lurv them anyway. Snagged their album on vinyl. You should too. I also did a little soundclouding, so you, gentle reader, can listen to the first two songs of their set here.
Shot a few photos. Lighting at Glasslands is ridic. I’m not a magician, people.
