New EP from Music Crush Youth Pictures of Florence Henderson

My sweet Norwegian loves @ypofh have a new EP and it is magically delicious. It delivers the epic emo post rock I came to love the first time I gazed on them @sxsw 2 years ago.

Check it out.

2012 Albums I’m Looking Forward To: @DustinWong

I have a love/hate relationship with Dustin Wong that I’m hoping to turn into a love/love relationship in 2012. Wong is one of the most talented guitarists I’ve seen play, and his musical compilations are brilliantly innovative. I just want a bit more showmanship.

2012 seems to be the year for a more fan and media-savvy Wong. First, there’s a new album Dreams Say, View, Create, Shadow Leads coming February 21. Then there’s a new video, “Diagonally Talking Echoes" which combines his experimental sound with inkblots and floating heads.

Finally, there is the Say You Dream, Create A Sound project which enables Wong to connect directly with your subconscious. Send him the description of an amazing dream you had, and he’ll create an original piece of music for it and record it to his soundcloud page.

Im so excited about this new project and getting to connect more with this amazing artist.

Dustin is playing at 285 Kent on Jan. 21 and at Glasslands on Feb. 3.

Check out all his good stuff!

With a new lineup and new songs, I’m looking forward to the debut album from @Tonycastles on @dasracists’ Greedhead label later this year (I have their 2010 ‘No Service’ EP on vinyl).

I missed their show last week, but we can both listen to one of their new songs, “Leaving You Is Easy ‘Cause You’re Beautiful”.

Justin Ringle, the lead singer of Horse Feathers, is brilliant. His voice literally rips my soul out and makes my fingertips sob. Orchestral folk that is so good.  @krshorsenews “Thistled Spring”

Ugly day. Wallowing with @deerhunter. “Sailing”

More walking to work music. @pavement  “Newark Wilder”

Some walking to work music for my lovelies today.  @lowerdens “Rosie”

Yes. Jana the lead singer is from Texas. Love my Texas girls.

@yvynyl says @flightfeathers feels clean, like after a rainstorm. I’d add it sounds like being held by someone who loves you, who’s not, you know, like a stalker.

Sometimes, artists aren’t able to strip away all the crud that builds up around the edges of trying to create something completely new (amazing how many people attempt to single-handedly invent new genres of music). Brooklyn’s Babi Pal is not one of those artists.  I’ve been listening to his new record In the Darkness of My Night over and over again and it just feels so satisfying, so right. Clean, like after a rainstorm. No bullshit here, no artificial sweeteners, just righteous American tunes.
