Music Crush: @portugaltheman

If you’re setting up your intentions for the weekend, this song, “Smile” from Portland-based band Portugal. The Man is a great soundtrack.

I’ve been lovin’ on this album ever since I had to buy a car and have been doing that thing you humans call ‘listening to the radio.’ KEXP was giving the band airplay and it went straight into my ears and into my crush zone, and it’s been on extended play since.

Then I did a little googling and found out that magically babalicious producer Danger Mouse produced it, so it makes sense that I would dig it.

Portugal. The Man is touring right now. They are in Europe at the moment and then hitting some hotspots in the US in the fall. Their Sept. 27 show at Terminal 5 in NYC is already sold out. That venue sucks so get there early if you have tickets.

Miike Snow Played Terminal 5 April 26, 2012

@miikesnow shook the booties of the full house at the third sold-out Terminal 5 show Thursday night.

Entering with masks per usual, they performed “Sylvia” “Devil’s Work” “Paddling Out” “Bless This Divorce” and “Animal,” among others, to the crowd of fist-pumping dance-pop lovers.

It was the first concert for the two high school boys next to me. They kept screaming “We love you!” to the band. When lead vocalist Andrew Wyatt finally responded “We love you too” the boys were gushing. So cute.
