SXSW Recommendations: @La_Luz_Band

@papergardenrecs said La Luz was a “high” so far in their @sxsw2014 tenure.Music Crush Girl agrees! This Seattle-based surf-rock chick band is the bees knees.

Music Crush: @realestateband

My East Coast lovelies Real Estate have a new album, Atlas, out on Domino records, and a new tour. They’ll be in grey Seattle tonight. (Alas, I won’t be there in keeping with my history of serially missing their shows.)

I bought the vinyl for Atlas last week and can’t wait to get it. The album keeps to their spare, tinge of beach pop sound. Love love love it.

Support these amazing artists and buy the album.

Wet– “You’re the Best

Pairs Well With…Atomicon, Magik Markers, Lykke Li

New York three piece Wet play sparse dreamy Electro-pop. Singer Kelly Zutrau’s vocals float over percussionist Joe Valle and guitarist Marty Sulkow’s ethereal production. On their self title EP the band presents four songs that have a mixed sense of emotions presenting sensual but not obnoxiously sexualized confessional songs about love and heart break. You’re the best features a wobbly distorted vocal from Zutrau, a leisurely drum line, and elaborate guitar harmonies.

New Music Crush: @angelhaze

Happy Fashion Week.

Music Crush: The Avett Brothers @theavettbros

For my sister Brooklyn, who showed me lots of love last week. This song is  about love and family and being far away. xoxo

Music Crush: @clouderband

My lovelies from the Brooklyn band Clouder are releasing a new album, Sister Raygun, March 4 on Fleeting Youth Records. Check out the single “Lost in Reverie”. It’s like Babyshambles or post-Doors without all the heroin and stuff.

Preorder it, darn it.

Music Crush:  Hooray For The Riff Raff

What I Bought: @mutual_benefit Love’s Crushing Diamond

Mutual Benefit’s tunes are lovely and sparse. The perfect background for contemplation or an unhurried make out session. This track is “Advanced Falconry.”

It was recently featured on Insound as MP3 of the Week.  Heck, even Pitchfork gave the album a good review.

So, you have your marching orders. Buy the vinyl here or download it on iTunes. Just buy it.

New Music Crush: @Torsmusic

Need something to spirit you through the end of the year? This song, “The Thickness,” by Tor, which came out last year on the album Drum Therapy, will do the trick. It’s gentle but driving with a  variety of textural sounds. Lurv it.

Check out more at And oh! Be sure to buy the album, yo. It is the giving season after all.

New Music Crush: @ytst_labs Yamantaka // Sonic Titan

I dare you to not dance.

The single is “One” from the band’s sophomore release Uzu.
