Attended Dylan Fest last night. Despite misunderstandings of the obvious by some idiots in the crowd, Bob Dylan was NOT at this tribute show. But there was a giant maelstrom of talent who collaborated on 60 songs including Norah Jones, Regina Specter, Nicole Atkins, Hanah Cohen, Adam Green, Will Forte of SNL, Jesse Malin, Tad Kubler of the Hold Steady, Zane Carney (from Spiderman!), Danny Clinch, Adam Schlesinger aof Fountains of Wayne, Steve Schiltz of Longwave & Hurricane Bells, Antony Ellis of Five OClock Heroes, Jack Dischel of Only Son, Jonny Corndawg PLUS the Preservation Hall Band from New Orleans!?!?!?!?! It was a scene, man!
The Cabin Down Below Band hosted and provided the backing for all the songs. Jones, Cohen and Atkins did provide some background vocals (as the Cabinnettes), but each came up front a few times to showcase their chops. Jones did a beautiful and wrenching “Just Like a Woman.” Zane Carney, who has his own band but also performs as a musician in Spiderman the Musical, showed off some mad guitar skills. And he ain’t bad lookin’ either.
The breadth of material covered shows just what an amazing and endurance of his talent and legend.
An early peak at some of the photos below. (I took more than 1000, so still going through them)
